Three compulsory internships

  • 1st Internship (2 months): 1st year of the PLANT-Int program (January-February)
  • 2nd Internship (3 months): 2d year of the PLANT-Int program (October-December)
  • 3rd Internship (6 months): Master thesis, 2d year of PLANT-Int (January-June)

A rotational mode

The internships may take place in Grenoble, Milan or at other locations in France, Italy or abroad, with the following rules:
  • At least two Internships should be performed in different laboratories,
  • The 2d internship and Master thesis should be hosted in different places.
These rotations should allow the students to explore several topics, institutes and cultures of science. Laboratories for internship may belong either to academic institutes or private companies.

Specificites of internships at UGA and UNIMI

  • UGA
According to French national rules, all students have to establish an internship agreement (“convention de stage”) with UGA and the host institution or host company even if the internship takes place outside of France. This agreement has to indicate precisely the period of internship, according to the French regulation.

According to french national rules, the maximum duration time of an internship in the same place is 6 months (applies for cumulated periods within an academic year , as well), and a bonus is eventually due (e.g. in 2018: for internships lasting more than 8 weeks at 35h/week, the intern will be granted a bonus of 3,60€ net/hour, for the whole internship period).

  • UNIMI
According to Italian national rules, all students have to establish specific internship agreements with UNIMI and the host institution or host company even if the internship takes place outside Italy. In Italy, interns will not be entitled to any bonus, as the internship(s) will not exceed 924h (corresponding to 36 ECTS) per academic year.
